Thermometer-Themocouple.info

While surfing for temperature measuring devices and thermocouple i realised that there isn't enough information available on thermoters, temperature measuring devices and other prescision instruments. I then decided to set this up for surfers to have information on various insturments and equipment available online.

Multimeter is a Voltmeter or Ammeter that has a switch setting allowing it to measure voltage (ac or dc), resistance in ohms or continuity of a circuit.

A common term used to describe a VOM. A multimeter usually has the ability to measure volts, ohms, and amperes or milliamperes.

A multimeter is an electronic measuring instrument that combines several functions in one unit. The most basic instruments include an ammeter, voltmeter, and ohmmeter.

There are various kinds of multimeters available today

  • Digital Multimeter (DMM) Analog multimeter were manufactured in the early twentieth century. The most common forms measured by this MultiMate were d.c. and a.c. Voltage, resistance, and c.c. current. These meters were known volt-ohm-milliammeters or VOMs. After commercial manufacturing of digital voltmeters in 1955, digital measurement and display technologies developed in parallel with digital integrated circuit technology, until finally, in late 1960's portable digital version of the VOM appeared. This form of meter has since been know s digital MultiMate.
  • Virtual multimeter (VMM) By combining DMM features with plug-in board technology the capabilities of DMM has been extended to produce a range of computer-based DMM's known as virtual multimeters.
  • Cathode Ray oscilloscope (CRO) is one of the advanced forms of VMMs.
